Main scientific achievements
In connection with the investigation of oil shale in Azerbaijan, that is widely used (45 types of fuel, medicine, construction, agriculture, etc. products are produced) in the world as an alternative energy source:

Related to deciphering of aerial photographs in large-scale and regional research results, it was found that the deposits and manifestations of oil shale in Azerbaijan are mainly located in the wings of anticlines, synclines and moulds;

Connection with research of structural and tectonic features of deposits and manifestations of oil shale in Gobustan, it was found that from the zonal point view they are located mainly in the central part of the study area, in the territory of Bayanata microblock;

Due to geochemical investigations of oil shale in Azerbaijan, the organic (kerogen), sulfur and ash contents of oil shale were determined and with the analysis of pyrolysis and thermolysis processes some new data were obtained;

Due to study of oil shale as non-traditional energy resources, some promising new objects were established and probable reserves of deposits and manifestations of oil shale related to the Eocene-Miocene age was also calculated;

For the first time, was made ​​a map of probably reserves of oil shale and natural bitumen in Azerbaijan (scale - 1:1 000 000);

For the first time, it was carried out geological and geochemical analysis of oil shale and oil rocks that ejected to the Earth"s surface from the depths of 6-8 km and more by mud volcanoes and some new data were obtained on their hydrocarbon generation and stratigraphic distribution;

It was proposed some possible prospective areas for the exploitation of "shale gas", that is unconventional for Azerbaijan.
