A SCIENTIFIC SESSION DEDICATED TO THE 80TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ANAS INSTITUTE OF GEOLOGY AND GEOPHYSICS WAS HELD

A scientific session, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the IGG, was held with the support of the ANAS Department of Earth Sciences.
Deputy Director in science of the IGG, corresponding member of ANAS Dadash Huseynov delivered introduction and acquainted the participants with the meeting review.
The Co-chairman of the scientific session, academician Fakhraddin Kadyrov (“Space-geodesic studies (GPS) and forecasting of tectonically active zones in Azerbaijan”), corresponding member of ANAS Talyat Kengerli (“Modern views about the tectonics and deep structure of Azerbaijan”) , academician Parviz Mammadov (“Subduction of the South Caspian Plate - a regular evolution process of central segment of the Alpine-Himalayan mobile belt”), academician Arif Ismail-zadeh (“Geological-genetical models of the gold field in the Transcaucasian andesite island-arc complex of the Lesser Caucasus”), academician Akber Feyzullayev (“Problems of the hydrocarbon fields formation in the South Caspian basin - new approaches”), D.Sc., Professor Adil Aliyev (“Mud volcanoes of Azerbaijan: distribution regularities and specific features according to recent data”), corresponding member of ANAS Gurban Yetirmishli (“Modern seismic-geodynamic situation of the Caspian Sea”), D.Sc. Tariel Eybatov (“Advances in the vertebrates study of Azerbaijan fauna”) made the reports on the session.
The report aroused great interest. At the end of the seminar the reporter answered numerous questions.
